Ulko-Tammio Island, in Finland, was declared the first “cell phone-free” tourist island, with the aim that its visitors manage to disconnect and fully enjoy their stay.

This destination, located in the Gulf of Eastern Finland National Park, recommends that its visitors forget about their cell phones during their stay to make the most of their stay and have a digital detox.

Some of the activities that Ulko-Tammio offers are being in contact with nature, admiring its fortifications, which during World War II were an outpost on the eastern border.

It also has sites for camping, staying in cabins and trails for hiking.

Likewise, during the weekends of June and July, guided tours are offered that explain the natural environment of the island and its history.

Disconnection is not mandatory and the island also has a good connection, so travelers who want to can stay up to date on what is happening on their social networks, however, it is not a bad idea to disconnect for a while from everyday life.
