Irish Coffee is a cocktail that consists of a mixture of Irish whiskey, a tablespoon of sugar, coffee and finally covered with two centimeters of milk or semi-whipped cream. Once served, it looks similar to a well-poured pint of Guinness; black and with a white crown of one finger. It is recommended that it be a soft coffee, American type, and that the proportion of whiskey is not too high, so that it is pleasant to the palate. It should be noted, despite the mistaken belief by some waiters to serve it in three layers, leaving the whiskey separate from the coffee and cream, that this is a mistake, since this coffee must be drunk completely keeping the cream on top, so that retain the alcohol vapors, and at the same time produce a special sensation by combining the heat of the mixture of coffee with whiskey with the cold of the milk or cream.2 The first official recipe for this coffee was presented in 1952 , in a bar in San Francisco called Buena Vista Café, where it is still the place that serves the most Irish coffees daily in the world.
