Salmon and trout are marine and freshwater fish (euryhalin) of the salmonid family distributed throughout the oceans and seas of most of the world, with some species only living in freshwater in Europe and Asia. Its name comes from the Latin psalm, which is how these fish were called in ancient Rome.As for genetics they are close relatives of the salmon and Pacific trout (the genus Oncorhynchus), and have a similar anatomy, although the analysis Mitochondrial DNA has shown differences between these two genera.
