A Cobb salad is a type of salad that typically consists of chopped salad greens (such as lettuce, watercress, endives, and arugula), diced tomatoes, sliced avocado, grilled chicken breast, bacon, hard-boiled eggs, crumbled blue cheese, and red wine vinaigrette. The origins of the Cobb salad are somewhat shrouded in mystery, but it is believed to have been created by Robert H. Cobb, the owner of the Brown Derby restaurant in Hollywood, California, in the 1930s.
