From 8 January 2025, non-European travellers will need an ETA to travel to the UK, the British government announced yesterday.

According to British authorities, travelers will be able to carry out the procedure from November 27, 2024, through a mobile application available for iOS y Androidor in the Official website of the UK Government.

The ETA will cost £10, will be valid for two years and will allow multiple trips to the UK for stays of up to six months at a time. If the passport expires before the ETA expires, the ETA will also expire.

Payment for the ETA can be made by debit card, credit card, Apple Pay or Google Play.

Travelers from the Republic of Travel who will need an ETA to travel to the United Kingdom, from January 8, 2025, are: Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, United States and Uruguay.

In order to carry out the procedure you will need:

  • Valid passport
  • Photo of your passport
  • Photo of the applicant
  • Email
  • Answer some questions
  • Make the payment with a debit card, credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Once the ETA application and payment have been made, the response will take three business days, although please note that there may be cases in which it may take longer.

NOTE: The process is individual, so it cannot be done by groups; each traveler must complete the application.

Europeans will need an ETA to travel to the UK

European travellers will also need to apply for an ETA to enter the UK, but this will only be required from 2 April 2025.

The ETA process can begin on March 5, 2025, and the steps to apply for it, as well as the requirements, will be the same as for other travelers around the world.
