The exhibition “Only what is wonderful is beautiful is presented at the Museum of the Palace of Fine Arts. Surrealism in dialogue”, which shows works by important surrealist artists.

This exhibition is given thanks to the collaboration of the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum, Rotterdam, and the Museum of the Palace of Fine Arts.

The exposure oroffers an in-depth review of the main themes and ideas related to the surrealist movement, as well as an unprecedented dialogue between European surrealism and its Mexican side.

The museum collection Boijmans van Beuningen has works from the first phase of surrealism; many come from the Edward James collection and others were acquired over the years. The rest of the works in the exhibition were created in Mexico and come from different Mexican collections.

“Only the wonderful is beautiful. Surrealism in dialogue” has almost 300 works by renowned artists such as Max Ernst, Yves Tanguy, Salvador Dalí, Remedios Varo, Leonora Carrington, Wolfgang Paleen, Alice Rahon, Hans Arp, Man Ray, René Magritte, Kati Horna, Victor Brauner, Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Rufino Tamayo, among many more.

This exhibition can be visited until October 2, 2022 at the Museum of the Palace of Fine Arts. From Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The price of admission is 80 Mexican pesos, from Tuesday to Saturday, children under 13 are free. On Sundays admission is free for all visitors.

Tickets can only be purchased at the box office of the Palacio de Bellas Artes Museum on the day of your visit. Box office hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
