Christmas is one of the favorite times of year for many travelers, because everything is magical thanks to the atmosphere generated by the Christmas trees and decorations, but many times, this time of year passes very quickly and we always want to continue enjoying it.

We recently discovered a place where you can feel the Christmas spirit all year round, and it’s in Mexico! In the state of Michoacán.

This is the Magical Town of Tlalpujahua, which is located approximately two and a half hours from Mexico City, and where you can feel the magic of Christmas all year round, as it has spaces that remind you of a European village where the houses have gabled roofs.

Here you can visit Santa Claus Village 1 and Santa Claus Village 2, which take you on a journey through some European cities at Christmas time from the entrance. These villages are very photogenic and during the evenings an incredible video mapping is projected.

It should be noted that Tlalpujahua became very popular for its production of spheres, since In the 1960s, Joaquín Muñoz Orta and his wife María Elena Ruiz began making spheres and little by little the population became involved in this activity until they became one of the main producers of spheres in Mexico.

So in addition to visiting the villages, you can also go to the Sphere Museum, which is located inside Santa Claus Village 2, where you will learn more about the history of Tlalpujahua, its importance in the production of spheres, as well as a little of the history of how the idea of putting up Christmas trees and their decorations was born.

You can also learn about the process of making the spheres, which consist of blown glass, and their decoration.

And of course, you will find spheres to take home, whether to decorate during the Christmas season or at any time of the year, as there are many types of designs.

In the center of Tlalpujahua you can visit the Casa de Santa Claus, a store that has a wide variety of Christmas decorations, so it is also an excellent option to get some ornaments.

But not everything is Christmas in this Magical Town. You can also get lost in its cobblestone streets, try preserved fruit, eat at a local restaurant like the Terraza de Juan, from where you can see beautiful views of Tlalpujahua; you can also visit the Parish of Our Lady of Carmen or the Las Dos Estrellas mine.

It is worth noting that between 1908 and 1913, Tlalpujahua was a mining power thanks to the extraction of large quantities of gold.

The mine is no longer in production, but you can visit it and learn how it worked during its heyday. By the way, you can visit this place with your four-legged friend.

So if you have the chance to get away to Tlalpujahua, don’t hesitate. There are many things to do and it’s perfect for getting away from the routine! And if you visit from the end of September to December, you’ll feel the Christmas spirit even more strongly.
