Hey traveling band, I was fortunate enough to visit NYC in November 2023 and after visiting several observatories in the tallest skyscrapers in the city, I concluded that the one I liked the most by far was the Summit One Vanderbilt Observation Deck.
Located on top of the tallest commercial building in downtown Manhattan (427 meters), Summit One Vanderbilt is located next to Grand Central Terminal and on its upper floors displays an impressive mix of urban landscapes, art and technology.
After giving them sunglasses, shoe covers and a bracelet for their photographs, they head to one of the modern elevators that will take them at full speed to the 91st floor. Here they will be greeted by the Air by Kenzo installation, something like a “ “infinity room” with a dizzying transparent floor, and large windows with the best views of the city.
In the next room there is an exhibition by my beloved Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama “Clouds”, one more installation of balloons to play with, and some screens with celestial projections where the clouds take the shape of her face.
During the tour they go up two more floors, there are levitation windows and new perspectives of the most beautiful and majestic skyscrapers in Manhattan – even the bathroom is a panoramic dream, go even if you don’t feel like doing anything hahaha.
Finally, on the 93rd Floor there is a Nordic bar to have a drink in the heights, and enjoy its extraordinary terrace.
The ticket per person starts at $42 USD, and it is without a doubt currently the best viewpoint in New York City.
