Homemade green papaya jam is too easy to make!

Ingredients

  • 1 kg of green papaya

  • 1 tablespoon bicarbonate of soda

  • 3 glasses (American type) of water

  • 3 cups (American type) of sugar

  • 2 tablespoons green food coloring (optional)

  • 10 cloves

Directions

  • Wash the papaya well and peel it completely. 
    Remove and discard the ends, cut the papaya in half and also remove the seeds. 
    Cut each papaya half in half again and then slice them however you like.
  • Place the papaya pieces in a container and wash well under running water. 
    Drain all the water, add water again and add the bicarbonate. 
    Let it soak for 30 minutes and then wash it very well to remove all the bicarbonate.
  • Transfer the papaya pieces to a large pot and add water until completely covered. 
    Boil for 10 minutes, discard the water and wash the papaya again. 
    In the pan add water, cloves, green dye and sugar. 
    Mix well and add the papaya pieces.
  • Let it boil over medium heat for approximately 30 minutes, turn off the heat and wait for the papaya to cool at room temperature. 
    Take the dessert to the fridge for a few hours and the papaya jam is ready to eat.
