Ingredients
- Dough
1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
1 cup warm water (110°F/43°C)
2 1/2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
- Filling
1 cup pizza sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Your favorite pizza toppings (e.g., pepperoni, diced bell peppers, olives)
Directions
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 1/2 cups of flour, olive oil, and salt. Add the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, adding more flour if needed, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle on a floured surface.
- Spread pizza sauce evenly over the rolled-out dough.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- Add your desired pizza toppings.
- Starting from one of the longer sides, tightly roll the dough to form a log.
- Use a sharp knife to cut the log into approximately 1-inch wide slices.
- Place the slices on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Allow the pizza rolls to cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Optionally, serve with extra pizza sauce for dipping.
