The Soumaya Museum exhibits The Disney Gala: Celebrating Animation in Style, an exhibition that celebrates 100 years of The Walt Disney through creations by Mexican designers inspired by the films.

The designers who worked on this collection are: Adriana Macías, Alexia Ulibarri, Anuar Layon, Armando Takeda, Benito Santos, Daniel Herranz, Diego Zúñiga, Macario Jiménez, Pink Magnolia, Vero Solís and Vero Díaz.

Each designer made a collection inspired by a Disney story:

Adriana Macías was inspired by Sleeping Beauty, looking for strengths in life’s challenges.

Alexia Ulibarri’s inspiration was Alice in Wonderland to show her own version of the story using embroidery, pattern making, corsetry techniques, among others.

Anuar Layón relived his childhood through his collection inspired by Pinocchio, creating designs with loose, layered and oversized cuts.

Armando Takeda was based on Snow White, showing the magic of elegance and modernity in his collection.

Benito Santos used Frozen to create incredible romantic and elegant designs using the pastel blue color as a base.

Daniel Herranz was inspired by Fantasia, a movie with several characters where Mickey is the protagonist. His collection consists of different types of fabrics, models, colors, styling and performances.

Diego Zúñiga created a collection inspired by Hercules with oversized, layered, loose and comfortable pieces.

Macario Jiménez worked in collaboration with Swarovski to create a collection inspired by The Lion King, in which you can see colorful bugs and the nuances of the jungle.

Pink Magnolia was inspired by Disney’s most recent film, Wish, to create designs with metallic and sequin elements.

Vero Solís was based on Cinderella to create a collection full of fantasy using elements such as crystal, glitter and the clock as inspiration.

Vero Díaz used elements from The Little Mermaid for her collection, in which the colors and textures stood out.

This exhibition can be seen at the Soumaya Museum until November 19, from Monday to Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Admission is free.
