It’s time to talk about Mazatlán, the Pearl of the Pacific, where the band was born and where I have eaten the best aguachile of my life, of course with its chiltepín chile, well known in those places.
I think the Pacific offers us one of the best gastronomic offerings when it comes to seafood.
Mazatlán has beautiful places to visit, we have the Observatorio 1873 funicular, which is one of the oldest houses in Mazatlán and today is a museum, an aviary and a sky bar, to mention some of the things you will visit in this tourist park.
These days I spent on this beautiful beach I stayed at Courtyard by Marriott, which apart from being brand new, is the first resort in this category of hotels. I was welcomed with a delicious taquito gobernador and a very cold Pacífico beer, the same one that rules these lands; the hotel food is wonderful as well as all the amenities; don’t forget to dine at the Don Joaquín Restaurant, with a wave concert on its terrace, one hundred percent recommended.
Another of the joys that this beach gave me was getting on the famous pulmonia, a typical transport that takes you around the boardwalk to the sound of the drum, yes, just as you read it, what a beautiful boardwalk by the way, full of sculptures and its beautiful people enjoying the sunsets, now I understand why that song about Mazatlán by the late Mike Laure was made.
And here are some gastronomic recommendations, which were difficult to tell you because there is so much good food to eat, but among my top 5 are the authentic Arcos, the seafood carts, the Panama coffee and its emblematic guava pie and to finish, a classic, don’t forget to eat some grilled fish at Mariscos Puerto Azul, recommended by my dear Roberto Ramos who knows his beloved port; and to finish, you have to try some tacos from Playa Sur, without fail order the charcoal-grilled potato stuffed with cheese and grilled meat! Wow! What a delight Mazatlán is!
