Healthy and tasty, this lentil soup has been irresistible!

Ingredients

  • 1 and 1/2 cups (tea) washed dried lentils

  • 1 large onion, sliced ​​(or 2 medium or 3 small)

  • 1 generous teaspoon cumin powder

  • Water to cover loosely (add more if dry as lentils swell a lot)

  • Salt to taste

  • Black pepper to taste

  • Olive oil for sautéing

  • Yogurt/fresh curd/lemon drops to serve (optional)

Directions

  • Sauté the chopped onion in a pan with a little olive oil until it almost burns (Arabic style), or if you prefer, cook it with the lentils. 
    Add the lentils, cumin, black pepper and salt to taste.
  • Fill the pot with water to cover the lentils and cook for approximately 10 to 20 minutes, or until the lentils are very tender. 
    Beat everything with a blender or mixer and serve the lentil soup warm with yogurt, lemon drops or fresh curd if you prefer.
