This is the option we chose to go from Hué to Hoi An. At first, it may seem uncomfortable to have to make a change mid-trip. But we think it’s worth taking the train. It’s faster and more comfortable than traveling by road. Plus, the scenery is much better. You can see the coastal cliffs if you sit on the left side of the car.

1.1. Train from Hue to Da Nang

You will first need to book the train from Hue to Da Nang. There are about 8 daily departures starting at 7am. The train trip lasts approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.. All the times we used the trains in Vietnam they were pretty punctual. Hué station is about 20 minutes walk from the center or 5 minutes by taxi. Us We stayed at the Azerai La Residence hotel and walked to the station right away.

The ticket costs 175,000 VND (€7) for a seat and 277,000 VND (€11) for a bunk bed. For how short the trip is, the seat is comfortable and more than enough.

1.2. Bus, taxi or minivan from Da Nang to Hoi An

Once in Da Nang, there is the option to take a taxi at the station for about 400,000 VND (€15). The trip takes about 50 minutes. If you want to save a little, you can reserve a minivan for 150,000VND (€6)which will take you to Hoi An in just 1 hour.

If you’re too lazy to change from the train to the bus, you can make the trip by road to go from Hue to Hoi An.

If you want to book tickets online, There are two companies available that offer the route.

The first (and most recommended) is April Adventures. Their minibuses depart from 45 Le Loi Street in Hué and drop you off at 487 Hai Ba Trung Street, in Hoi An. The tour lasts only 3 hours, the bus being the fastest. You can find tickets from 441,500VND (€17).

The other option is to opt for TechBus buses. In this case, they are more comfortable and larger, but the journey lasts 4 hours, being a slightly slower option. However, You can find tickets from 345,000VND (€13).
