HOW TO GO FROM HIROSHIMA TO MIYAJIMA

1. Train + ferry, the most common option to go from Hiroshima to Miyajima

1.1. Sanyo Line de Hiroshima a Miyajima-guchi

The most frequent way to ir de Hiroshima a Miyajima is to take the train to Miyajima-guchi and, once there, board a ferry to reach the island. You will have to go to Hiroshima Station and catch any southbound Sanyo Line train. Most of them have Iwakuni as their final destination, although those that go to Yuu, Ono-Ura or Tokuyama will also serve you well. All of them they leave track 1 very frequently, you will not wait more than 10 minutes. The price of the journey is 420 yen (€2.50 approx).

The trip takes approximately 25 minutes.depending on whether the train is express or stops at all stations. Once in Miyajima-guchi you will have to walk about 200 meters to the pier. When leaving the station you just have to go straight, so there is no loss.

1.2. Ferry de Miyajima-guchi a Miyajima

There are two companies that cover the journey to Miyajima by ferry: JR and Matsudai Kisen. The trip with both costs 180 yen (1€ approx) and they take exactly the same, between 5 and 10 minutes. If you have bought the train ticket to Miyajima or have the JR Pass you can only take the JR ferry. In case you have only bought the train ticket to Miyajimaguchi, you can choose the one that you like the most (or the least queue at that moment!)

2. Go from Hiroshima to Miyajima by tram + ferry, a good alternative

If you want to save a little to go from Hiroshima to Miyajima, you can take the tram instead of the train. line number 2 in the direction of Hiroden-Miyajimaguchi it leaves Hiroshima station and crosses the entire city, including the Peace Park area. That’s why it can be a good alternative to go from Hiroshima to Miyajima if you stay quite far from the station. The price per trip is 270 yen (€1.70 approx), but it takes more than an hour to get to the pier.

Get off at the last stop, Miyajimaguchi. From there you have to walk 5 minutes to the pier from where the ferries leave, with a price of 180 yen each way. 3. Ferry, the fastest option to get to Miyajima

The fastest way to get from Hiroshima to Miyajima is to take a direct boat from the city center to the island. The Aqua Net company has a dock in the Parque de la Pazat the eastern end of the Motuyasu-bashi bridge. The trip is direct and takes only 40 minutes. Of course, comfort is paid, since the round trip costs 4,000 yen.

The truth is that the port falls quite far from the city center, so it is not the most practical.
