This Thursday, July 13, the train route that will connect Barcelona and Lyon in five hours was inaugurated, which is operated by Renfe’s AVE.

During the journey, the train will make several stops in Spanish and French cities, such as Girona, Figueres Villafranc, Perpignan, Narbonne, Montpellier, Nimes and Valence.

The first trips will cost 29 euros for the entire journey, 19 euros to cross the border or 9 euros for routes between French stops.

In this first stage, 16 trips per week will be made, and only during the week; It is expected that as of September 28, service will be provided on weekends.

Railway route that will connect Madrid with Marseille

In addition to this new route, Renfe will also inaugurate a new one on July 28 to connect Madrid with Marseille.

This trip will last eight hours and will make stops in Zaragoza, Camp de Tarragona, Girona, Figueres, Perpignan, Narbonne, Béziers, Montpellier, Nimes, Avignon, Aix en Provence and Marseille.

Renfe is currently working to obtain the Safety Certificate to operate throughout France, and to connect Paris with Barcelona; all this around the celebration of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
