This homemade whipped cream is a versatile topping that can enhance the flavor of many desserts. Feel free to get creative and experiment with different flavorings, such as cocoa powder or flavored extracts, to customize it to your liking.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (adjust to taste)

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Directions

  • Place a mixing bowl and beaters (or a whisk) in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes before you start. This helps the cream whip up faster.
  • Pour the cold heavy whipping cream into the chilled mixing bowl.
  • Use an electric mixer or a whisk to beat the cream. Start at low speed and gradually increase to high speed as the cream thickens. This process may take a few minutes.
  • Once the cream begins to thicken, add the powdered sugar gradually while continuing to whip. Adjust the amount of sugar based on your sweetness preference.
  • If desired, add vanilla extract for flavor. Continue whipping until the cream forms stiff peaks. Be careful not to over-whip, as it can turn into butter.
  • Use the whipped cream immediately or refrigerate until ready to use. It’s a delicious topping for desserts, fruit, hot chocolate, or coffee.
