Disneyland Resort announced that next year the Haunted Mansion grounds will expand with additions that build on the mansion’s history and lore, as well as include an outdoor queue where travelers will immerse themselves in an enhanced theme, as well as a new souvenir shop.

The mansion is said to have been built by a sea captain, and to this day, the mansion staff maintains it as it was from its creation. The expanding queue will tie into these stories and more, including new gardens inspired by Master Gracey, Madame Leota, and the one-eyed cat.

The gardens will have unique elements ranging from a water feature, a gazebo, and to themed statues and landscaping.

Travelers will also get to see a new greenhouse where the Haunted Mansion’s gardeners grow their plants. In addition, the pet cemetery and horse-drawn hearse will continue on the mansion grounds.

In the garage of the mansion, which belongs to Madame Leota, a retail store will be installed.

The plaza adjacent to the Tiana Palace will also receive improvements, becoming a park-like space, ideal for relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere and live entertainment, under the shade of new and historic trees.

The redevelopment of this area includes a new Haunted Mansion elevator exit, for travelers with disabilities.

Construction of the extension is anticipated to begin in January 2024.
