When we talk about museums we generally think of works of art, paintings, sculptures, history, etc.; but something that would never cross our minds is health, and precisely this topic is addressed by the exhibition “Healthy Mind, Healthy Body. In search of our health”, from the Museo del Objeto, in Mexico City.

The Object Museum exhibits more than 3,000 pieces, dating from the beginning of the 19th century to the present, related to herbalism, medicines and remedies; which take us on a journey through history that allows us to reflect on its importance for humanity, the ancestral disciplines of using herbs, the development of surgery and the evolution of pharmaceutical laboratories.

Furthermore, with this exhibition we can learn more about humanity’s way of thinking and its evolution, both scientifically and socially.

They will also learn about the importance of preventing diseases and infections by implementing individual actions and habits that contribute to the health and well-being of all.

In this exhibition you will be able to see everything from objects in which medicines were kept, healing formulas, promotional posters, apothecaries’ tools, surgical artifacts, anatomical models, miracle products, thousands of medicines produced since 1900 to some that are still used today, among many others. further.

The exhibition also seeks to generate conversation around topics that have traditionally been limited, generating taboos and misinformation, such as menstruation, menopause, and antimicrobial resistance, as well as highlighting the importance of hygiene as one of the most important measures to prevent diseases. .

The exhibition can now be visited at the MODO (Museum of the Object), from September 29 to February 25, 2024.

In addition, conferences and workshops will be offered focused on issues of menstruation, menopause, incontinence and antimicrobial resistance. And on Museum Nights there will be special activities and activations.

Admission to MODO has a cost of 60 Mexican pesos, and 30 Mexican pesos for INAPAM, students and teachers. Travelers under 12 years old enter for free. Museum hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
