I am writing to you from California, from a small town in the middle of the mountains: South Lake Tahoe.
All my life, I wanted to be here, in a place like this. Where the mountains were always here, around the corner from my house and that’s how it has been.
Here, Most people who love mountains connect.
A few hours from the famous Yosemite National Park, is this wonderful place; Lake Tahoe.
It is a pretty beautiful town to come with pets, but many places are not Pet-friendly, the practice is still rare, the inclusion of animals is still scarce and false.
It is worrying that life continues to be so complicated when we consider including our best friends in our daily activities. The world still finds this act of love ridiculous.
There are many trails that allow our pets, but life in the town is not so simple. I would like to tell you about a good experience but I haven’t had one.
Most places are closed due to the fairly extreme weather. During the summer, more spaces such as terraces are opened where our best friends are welcome, but during the rest of the year it is quite difficult to enjoy life with our pets.
The weather is difficult during winter and closed spaces are very difficult to live with our best friends.
It is very important that you are aware of the weather when you plan to visit a place like this. In winter the world is white, beautiful and complicated.
Within Lake Tahoe you can go anywhere on foot, it is so small and so full of trails that you can connect very easily by walking with your best friend.
One of the most incredible trails is Eagle Lake, for this trail you do not need a permit, it is approximately 2 km of trail and has a beautiful view.
And it is open to dogs on leashes.
Taylor Creek is a beautiful place to visit with our best friend. It is a river that brings together wildlife such as the famous bears, there you can find a large number of wild bears when they come down to eat fresh salmon.
There is also a famous beach where you can walk on the sand of the lake with your best friend with a view of the mountains.
Desolation Wilderness is another area full of trails that can be done with pets. But it is a much wilder experience, which requires a lot of planning.
Within the town there are several trails that allow pets.
But depending on the weather they are open. During winter it is unlikely that trails can be made, it is very dangerous to walk on the snow.
In addition, temperatures are below -15 degrees.
South Lake Tahoe is one of the most visited places in the USA for snow sports. And it is also the stopover for thousands of hikers around the world who walk the PCT, one of the largest trails in the world.
The place feels wise, full of beauty and simplicity. But business is also quite expensive, there is fun for everyone. From huge casinos to huge trails.
It is cozy, it is extremely calm to live here, a place that asks you for other things in life.
Paco has walked on the snow, he has managed to spend a winter among the mountains. And I have been able to wake up peacefully surrounded by mountains, from my comfortable room.
I hope South Lake Tahoe can be your destination at some point and you enjoy it as much as Paco and I do.
